[IMPORTANT] Conference Clarifications and Guidance

 Dear Delegates,

As we swiftly approach the conference I would like to make some clarifications about what we are looking for in solutions for both topics.

Topic A:

Seeing as this is art and entertainment as weapons of war, it is important that your delegation

focuses on how art is being weaponized. Not just how to protect physical art. If your solution pertains to protecting cultural heritage, that is great, but also attempt to make an effort to clarify how targeted destruction of art is a weapon of conflict and should be regulated as one.

Also, there are many other forms of art. One of the most important/influential/unregulated methods of expression currently is journalism and news media. Through the ability for news outlets to display information in a believable way that may not be true, this misinformation allows for chaos. As chaos can lead to rebellion and bloodshed, should journalism also be regulated and classified as a weapon. Should civilians be trusted with this weaponized form of information?

I encourage you to think outside of the box for this topic and have fun with your solutions. Think of innovative ways to not only protect physical art but also control sectors that seem untouchable. For example, should music be regulated? Is Beyonce a vessel for American propaganda? If so, should she be censored? That may be a little extreme, but it is those types of questions I want to be asked and answered!

Topic B:

This topic is quite tricky as no country has a policy that combats both climate change and bioterrorism. Many countries excel in one sector and ignore the other. The question being asked here, is does your country have an effective enough policy that it could be used to combat the other side of the problem?

For example, if your country excels at climate policy, could this policy be implemented in a way that limits the effects of bioterrorism? Or, if your country excels at biosecurity, could they attack bioterrorists in a way that is climate-oriented?

Seeing that no solution exists in the real world, this topic is entirely up to your interpretation. As long as you follow the constraints of your country, your solution could be anything but remember to acknowledge that tackling either climate or bioterrorism will have an effect on the other issue.

I hope that helps clarify confusion and I look forward to seeing everyone soon!

Sincerely,

Clara Bardeen
