Committee Introductions

Welcome to UNESCO! We are excited to see everyone very, very soon and are looking forward to hearing all the amazing solutions. Before we get into conference logistics and guidance, we would like to take a moment to introduce ourselves.

Hello everyone! My name is Clara Bardeen (she/her) and I am going to be your head chair for UNESCO 72. Currently, I am a second-year majoring in Microbial Biology with a minor in Chemistry. This is my second year of BMUN and sixth of MUN, and I am very thankful to be spending this time chairing the best and most fun committee in the UN!

On a more personal level, I grew up in Riverside, California but I was born in Urbana, Illinois! When I am not looking into how microbes and pathogens interact in class or lab, I spend my time doing taekwondo and DJing for the college radio station, KALX. I am also a part of Space Technologies at Cal, where I am working to engineer a probiotic yeast that can sustain space travel and naturally produce Vitamin E for nutrient-deprived astronauts.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you very soon! My dais and I are quite excited to hear your well-researched and discussed solutions. Please do not hesitate to reach out to either the committee email (unescobmun72@bmun.org) or my personal (cbardeen@bmun.org) at any point when you have a question.

Sincerely,

Clara Bardeen

Hi delegates! I’m Zoe Kuebrich (she/her), and I’ll be one of your vice chairs for UNESCO 72. I’m a 4th year majoring in computer science, and this is my second year of BMUN. I’m excited to be a part of this interdisciplinary committee with you all, and explore solutions to relevant global issues.

I grew up in St. Louis, MO then Fresno, CA, but Berkeley is my favorite place I’ve lived so far. In my free time I like to rock climb, roller skate, and snowboard. I am also slowly learning guitar. My primary interest is computer science, but I love learning about international issues with my work in BMUN.

I can’t wait to meet you all!

From,

Zoe Kuebrich

Hello everyone!! My name is Alex Edgar, and I am a senior studying political behavior and public policy. I am so excited to be one of your vice chairs for BMUN 72, but will sadly be out of town for the conference. Outside of BMUN, I am the External Affairs Vice President of the Associated Students of the University of California (UC Berkeley’s student government), Civic Engagement Team Lead for the Youth Power Project, and Board Member of the UC National Center for Free Speech and Civic Engagement. In my free time I love to go on hikes, cook and bake delicious food, and explore all of the amazing activities and restaurants in the Bay Area. Be nice to my dais!

Best,

Alex Edgar

Hello everyone! My name is Shannon Farrell and I am a 2nd year studying Political Economy and Legal Studies. I am very pumped to be one of your vice chairs for BMUN 72! Being a part of BMUN has added so much fun and enjoyment to my sophomore year, and I can't wait to meet all of you while we debate these timely and imperative topics. A little bit about me- I am from Manhattan Beach, was a dancer my whole life, I like coloring with crayons before I sleep, spending time with my sorority sisters, and going out to new restaurants! Most of all, I am looking forward to an exciting BMUN 72 with the amazing UNESCO dias and all of you!

Selamat datang, delegates! I am Valentine Lindarto, a BioEngineering freshman from Jakarta, Indonesia. As your vice chair for UNESCO, I am beyond excited to welcome you into this wonderful community of  politically-conscious peers where you can engage in impactful conversations about important issues across the globe.

To know more about each other before we start the conference, I am a bioremediation research author who investigates the heavy metal- and dye-resistance mechanisms developed by bacteria isolated from contaminated rivers in Indonesia. Aside from academic activities, I also enjoy painting landscapes using acrylics, cafe hopping around the bay, and exploring new beach spots on the weekend. Another fun fact: I am currently obsessed with snoopy!

Alright, enough about me. I look forward to getting to know more about you all during the conference!
